On Tuesday, June 2, 2015 the education and business communities came together to celebrate thirty-two students who excelled in all aspects of their CTE education- theory, practical skills and work-based learning - at the OU BOCES Career and Technical Education Center. The first annual Outstanding Career and Technical Education Students' Recognition Dinner was held at the Villa Venezia in Goshen, where the students, their families, their CTE instructors, guidance counselors and administrators and home school administrators joined them to commend their hard work, dedication, skills and accomplishments. The dinner was the brainchild of Michael Gilfeather, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Orange County Trust Company who reached out to his business colleagues throughout Orange County to join him in supporting and celebrating the achievements of the Career and Technical Education students. He received an overwhelming response from the business community with thirty-six businesses and individuals contributing to the event. The Hudson Valley American Heart Association (AHA) has announced that Orange County Trust Company President and CEO, Michael J. Gilfeather will serve as volunteer chair of the TriCounty Heart Walk event, set for Sunday, May 3rd at Lake Welch Beach at Harriman State Park. The Heart Walk is the AHA’s biggest annual event, raising more than $340,000 for AHA programs and research at last year’s event. The American Heart Association awards worksites who support healthier behaviors at work through the Fit Friendly Worksite program. Orange County Trust Acquires Local Investment Firm
In completing the first acquisition in its history, the parent company of Orange County Trust Company began the short Thanksgiving work week with a new company under its wing - Hudson Valley Investment Advisors ("HVIA"). While the deal was only announced last month, Orange County Bancorp had been in negotiations with Provident Bank for over a year conducting due diligence and other business-related investigations. The deal creates an investment management enterprise - including HVIA and the trust department of Orange County Trust - that manages and administers over $550 million in client assets."This acquisition follows a well thought-out strategy set in motion by my fellow board members and senior management. It's a perfect fit," said Lou Heimbach, chairman of Orange County Bancorp.

Orange County Trust Company is pleased to announce Gerard A. Perri has joined the bank as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Gerard will oversee all aspects of the Accounting Department and will head the Asset and Liability Management Committee.Throughout Gerard's 35-year financial career, he has been integrally involved in the accounting, financial planning, compliance, and information systems functions of public and private community banks. Previously, Gerard was Chief Financial Officer of Herald National Bank where he directed all accounting, finance, treasury, and compliance responsibilities of the Bank. Lou Heimbach Appointed Chairman of the Board
Orange County Trust Company has named Louis Heimbach as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Heimbach succeeds John H. Morrison who served in that role since 1993. Said Mr. Morrison, "It has been an honor to serve as Chairman of the bank, an organization that has been family to me. Tim McCausland Completes First Year of Stonier Graduate Banking Program
Earlier this month, along with over 200 bank professionals from around the country and the world, Vice President Tim McCausland completed his first-year classroom sessions at the Stonier Graduate Banking Program. Held at the Wharton School on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania, the three-year Stonier program is designed to prepare bank leaders through a year-round curriculum that combines aspects of strategic planning, leadership, economics, and financial management."Wharton maintains the highest standards. It is a rigorous program, and I have already been able to apply information I have learned here at home," said McCausland. "The greatest practical benefit for me has come from interaction with other bank professionals from around the country," he added.

Along with eCards containing viruses, phishing, and spear phishing scams claiming to be from the IRS, Better Business Bureau, FedEx, the lottery, police agencies, and many others are showing up in the wild. These scams run year-round. Be aware that the criminal trend is not to target banks directly, but to target the customer base and have the customer compromise their bank, without knowing what is happening.
